Bayer Leverkusen has signed Belgian international, Benjamin De Bruyne, to a three-year deal. The move is set to be a significant boost for the club as it aims to strengthen its attack.

De Bruyne, who was born in Belgium but spent his early years in England, made his senior debut for Manchester United before moving to the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion. He then moved to Chelsea and scored 14 goals in just 25 appearances for them.

In his first season at Chelsea, De Bruyne netted 19 goals and helped the Blues reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. However, he struggled to break into the starting lineup and ended up on loan to Liverpool before returning to Chelsea.

After a disappointing start to the 2020-21 season, De Bruyne returned to Chelsea this summer after signing a new contract. He has since netted 28 goals in 67 appearances for the Blues.

As a result of his performance during the campaign, De Bruyne earned himself a place in the squad for the upcoming UEFA Europa League. His goal tally against Borussia Dortmund last week was one of the highest ever recorded by a Chelsea player in a match.

The transfer fee for De Bruyne is estimated to be around €10 million, which is the second-highest fee ever paid for a Belgian international in transfer history. This marks a significant increase from the €8 million paid for Kylian Mbappé last year.

De Bruyne's arrival will add another dimension to Bayer Leverkusen's attacking threat, and he should provide the team with a significant lift in terms of goals scored. The club also plans to use De Bruyne's experience and skills to develop young talent, potentially leading to bigger things in the future.
